Amalgam Filling

What Is Amalgam Filling?

Amalgam is a mixture of mercury, silver alloy, copper and tin. It is a type of gray-black colored filler used to fill in the cavities that develop in the posterior teeth. Although it is speculated that it is harmful due to the mercury it contains, there is no proven clinical study. Although poor aesthetic appearance is a disadvantage, these filling can be, now, removed and replaced by composite fillings.
